ARTastic Challenge – Smiling Faces Memories

Hi and welcome to a cool Sunday afternoon here in Central Queensland and layout I created at the Scrapbook Fantasies Retreat I hosted last weekend.  I created the layout for the May Challenge at the ARTastic Challenge Blog which had an inspiration image and the criteria of Girls Only, and this is the image:

I love the colours and the use of black and white meant I could get out some of the new Cocoa Vanilla Colour Me Happy paper I purchased along with my Prismacolor Watercolour pencils.  I didn’t want to colour the whole page, so chose my colours based on the inspiration image and some select parts of the design that would receive some Watercolour magic.

Being a Girls Only challenge I couldn’t resist using a photograph of my two favourite teenage girls – Naomi-Jon and Keelin.  They are like two peas in a pod, and beautiful on the inside and outside too.

The background of the inspiration image seems to have lots of layers of paint which I translated into layers of paper, flowers and embellishments.  Teamed with a wooden title that I have embossed with Aqua Embossing Powder from Couture Creations.

The flowers, leaves, diecuts and wooden word are all from the Cocoa Vanilla Colour Me Happy collection too.

Well that’s it for me this afternoon, and now I am off to finish creating lunches for the week ahead (and the week after too) – so far I have twelve soup tubs, eight serves of chicken with rice, a dozen chocolate peanut muffins and a supersized batch of sushi rice (yet to be rolled).  After our steamed chicken and vegetables dinner I will have four more soups too.  Not bad for half a day in the kitchen.

Don’t forget to have a go at the ARTastic Challenge too – you have two days left!

Happy Creating and have a wonderful day
