The Color Room Palette #126

I had so much fun creating with this palette from the Color Room.  The colours really spoke to me, and then once I started playing with mist and paint I just couldn’t stop.  I have to say that this is one of my all-time favourite layouts, and not just because it includes a photograph of my beautiful daughter.  This photograph is taken by Katrina Elliott, who always does a superb job of getting the most beautiful portraits of anyone (young or old).

I started off my background by applying some of the Glimmer Glam roughly in the area where the mist has ended-up.  Next, I applied the mists with my heat tool at the ready and some extra patience prepared for the outcome.  It looked pretty bad and very wet at one stage, which prompted me to make the statement “It’s only a piece of Cardstock” (the mist doesn’t like to dry on the Bling cardstock, and pools quite badly).  Only moments later I was more than pleased with the results.

I have actually flipped the sketch that came with this weeks Color Room palette, moved the edge cluster to a better balance point (as my image area is larger), added some additional elements where I felt they were needed and played with the sizing of a few of the feature elements too.

I have bent the chipboard butterflies a little for dimension before using a strong glue just behind the body to attach them to the page.  It is best to do this step close to the end and just leave them to dry and settle before moving the page around too much.
