The Pillars of the Earth by Ken Follett

Over the holidays I got a chance to read The Pillars of the Earth by Ken Follett and thoroughly enjoyed it.  As much as I tried to put it down, I just couldn’t and did my usual up till midnight reading trick.  I will admit to watching the Pillars Of The Earth DVD prior to reading the book, which can sometimes be a bad thing – although on this occasion it meant that I had images in my head to match the characters making the emersion into the story even deeper.

Without spoiling the book or the DVD I have to say that they can both stand alone or work together very well, even though they both end-up being quite different at the end.  I thoroughly loved the whole book and didn’t experience any boredom throughout.  I would recommend it to anyone, even those who aren’t necessarily interested in Historical Novels as I am.

Lastly I have to thank my friend Janyne for helping get my hands on a copy of the book so quickly, I really appreciate it.

  1. I watched the series on tv a little while back and loved it but for some reason I think I missed the last one. I didn’t realise there was a novel. Glad you enjoyed it too.
