Couture Creations DT Reveal | Special Foiled Butterfly Layout

Hi everyone and welcome to my post today where I am going to be sharing with you a lovely layout I have created that features two of everyone’s favourite things – Butterflies & Foil.

I have started my layout by die-cutting a huge pile of Butterflies from Diecut’N Bond that I had folded over on itself so that I had double-sided sticky Butterflies. Due to the intricate nature of the Die, I used this was a slow process – and if I am truly honest Naomi-Jon cut them for me and she wasn’t very happy about the mess or the difficulty in getting the little sticky bits out of the Die.

I then stuck the Butterflies on the background before using scraps of foil (I have a whole tub of them) to foil them randomly. I find that choosing a foil colour (Gold Iridescent Squares) as the finishing colour helps – and this finishing only involves burnishing the foil onto the Butterflies so that any gaps of adhesive are coated.

I sprayed and flicked some mists over the Foiled Butterflies before adding the photograph, embellishments and the “Special” Title I die-cut from Gold Mirror Foil Board using one of the new Delightful Sentiments Cut, Foil & Emboss Dies – Yes I used a Foil Die as a Cutting Die, because they produce the most beautiful embossed finishes.

Couture Creations DT Reveal | Scoring Board Rosette Canvas Part 3

Hi and welcome back to the third post for my Rosette project – which is by far the most exciting for me as I am sharing with you my discovery of how to add foil to a Canvas background, Rosettes and almost anything else.

Now don’t misunderstand me here this technique does not apply the foil perfectly or in a set or controllable pattern. It is very Random – and a bit Mixed Media looking – just my thing.

The secret ingredient is my Craft/Travel Iron (or you could use your regular Iron if you don’t mind it getting a bit dirty) – and as you will see from my video below foil scraps. I am always looking for ways to use my foil scraps being the daughter of someone who’s mantra was: “Waist Not Want Not”.

Here is my short Video showing you how I have added foil to my Canvas background and Rosettes:

Couture Creations DT Reveal | Gentleman’s Emporium | Scrapbook Layout

Hi and welcome to my post today featuring the recently released Gentleman’s Emporium collection. I have used this wonderfully masculine range of papers to create a layout featuring a photograph of my oldest son – Milton. I don’t often Scrapbook the Instax photographs my children take however this one took my eye and just needed to be included in our albums.

I started my layout by tearing some of my favourite papers from the collection, stamping the cool Gentleman’s Corner stamp (hundreds of times) to make a centre border and then sticking it all together before splashing around some water and mists.

I used my Go, Press & Foil Machine with Dark Matte Finish Maroon Hot Foil and the Art Deco Flourish and Quartet Frames Cut, Foil and Emboss Dies to create the feature embellishments. I created other embellishments for my layout with the Gentleman’s Timepiece stamp, fussy-cut elements and the largest frame from the Quartet Frames set as just a cutting and embossing die.

I used edging ink, some paper scraps, lots of foam tape, wax, sequins and beads to complete my layout. I love how a few simple bits and pieces in coordinating tones can come together and create a cohesive layout that has a lot going on whilst being so very simple to execute.

Thank you for stopping by today and have a wonderful day

Couture Creations DT Reveal |Butterfly Garden | Framed Butterflies

Hi and welcome to my post today which is a quick and lovely project that would make a perfect gift for Mothers Day – which happens to be just around the corner here in Australia.

As you may have realised the Butterfly Garden collection has lots of Butterflies on the papers and the ephemera that are perfect for fussy-cutting to use on projects like this.

I layered my favourite paper from the collection with some off-white cardstock and gold glitter cardstock to create the background. The “Life is Beautiful” sentiment came from the Ephemera pack, and with the addition of some foam dots it was the perfect finishing touch to my frame.

The actual frame was in my stash of to-do’s for quite some time and with the application of some Embossing Paste, White Gesso and Gold Gilding Wax it became the perfect home for my creation.

Thank you for visiting today and have a wonderful day

Couture Creations DT Reveal | Sympathy Card

Hi and welcome to my post today where I will be sharing a quick and simple to create Sympathy Card. It is never easy to create a Sympathy Card and I find that if I keep the design and colour scheme clean and simple I am much happier with the outcome and the process is a lot more enjoyable too.

I have used two A6 Cream Cardbases and one A6 Kraft Cardbase to create this card. At less than 40 cents (Australian) for a Cardbase and Envelope the 50 packs make a lot of sense and the cardstock is superb for diecutting, embossing and foiling. As with all of my creations I have created all of the elements/embellishments before even attempting to assemble any part of the card.

Essentially all my card is comprised of is:

  • a Cream Cardbase
  • a Kraft rectangle that is 1/4″ small all around
  • a Cream rectangle that is 1/8″ small all around
  • a Cream rectangle I have embossed
  • a piece of twine
  • a Kraft Sweeping Botanical I have Cut, Foil & Embossed with Pale Gold
  • a With Sympathy sentiment that I have diecut from Cream and Kraft
  • and finally three gold sequins
